This floor plan is designed for students to have areas that are designated for pre-writing, quiet writing, sharing and discussing, conferencing and editing, and publishing.
The Circle Rug- can be used for pre-writing, quiet writing and sharing and discussing. Students can sit on the carpet or on the bean bag chairs to brainstorm ideas or work on their writing pieces.
The Writing Center- This space will be utilized during writing centers, but is not the only place around the room designated for writing. This center will house all the necessary supplies in order to have a successful writing piece.
The Kidney Table- This table will be used for one on one conferencing and allows the teacher to pull ESE and ELL students to give them the necessary extra instruction.
The Listening Center- This is an area where students can come and listen to other writing pieces that have been previously recorded in order to get ideas for their writing pieces.
The Computers- These will be used for students to edit and publish their work.
Ultimately, students are able to work around the room wherever they feel comfortable to write.
